Andy Fisher awarded manager of the month

Stourbridge Ladies manager Andy Fisher has been named the FA Women’s National League, Division 1 manager of the month for October.

The Glassgirls head coach led his team to five wins and no losses in all competitions throughout October. And also led his side to the top of their league after not dropping any points since their opening league fixture back in August.

In all competitions in October, Fishers side scored a total of 33 goals and conceded just one. Their most notable victory came in the league where they beat Long Eaton United Ladies 10-1.

This is Stourbridge Ladies first season in the National League, after being in the sixth tier of women’s football just two years ago, many other teams across the country now know who Stourbridge are and can see what they’ve built over the last six years.

On being awarded manager of the month Fisher said: “I’m absolutely delighted, from a personal level to receive acknowledgement in this league is a real accolade. However, I don’t achieve this without the staff around me, without them we wouldn’t achieve what we have today.

“We’ve had a fantastic start to the season, it couldn’t have gone any better so far.

“I’m prouder than ever, and I’ve said all along this group of players are special. We have added a few in pre season and those that have come in have embraced the family and the groups even more special now.

“And I really do believe we can really achieve something special this year if we keep grounded and focused.”

Fisher will be hoping his squad can keep up their impressive league and cup record before the Christmas break.
