After the recent conclusion of the US open tournament, it’s time to look at the best women’s tennis players in the world at the moment.

Here are the current best 5 women’s tennis players based on their WTA ranking points (which are correct as of September 2023).

  1. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus)

Aryna Sabalenka is a 25-year-old Belarusian tennis player who started playing tennis when she was 6 years old. She is currently ranked the No.1 player in the female singles tennis rankings according to the WTA with 9266 points.

During her career so far she has won 13 titles in total, has played in 17 tournaments, has played 526 career singles matches and has a W/L record of 355/17

But she has only won one grand slam in total which was the Australian Open in January 2023 where she defeated Elena Rybakina. She has done well in all the other grand slam tournaments too, in this year’s recent US Open she made it to the final, and at both Wimbledon and the French Open she made it to the Semi-Final.

Some of her other career highlights include winning tournaments in Madrid this year, in 2021 – Abu Dhabi and Madrid, in 2020 – Doha, Ostrava and Linz; in 2019 – Shenzhen, Wuhan and Zhuhai and in 2018 – New Haven and Wuhan.
