Premier League clubs turnover from 2022-2023 explained

Every year, each Premier League club files its accounts data, which always includes the club’s annual turnover. An exclusive analysis of financial data on Companies House by Ashlea Follows, revealed is the premier league clubs’ turnover from 2022 to 2023. 

A club’s turnover is the amount of money they took in a certain period. The turnover for Premier League clubs includes things such as Matchday sales, ticket sales, player trades, broadcast revenue, merchandise sales, etc.

The analysis covered 17 out of 20 Premier League clubs, the teams excluded were the three promoted teams for the 2023-24 season which are Sheffield United, Burnley, and Luton Town. 

Out of the 17 PL clubs analysed, everyone had an increase in turnover from 2022 to 2023 except for Liverpool, Everton, and West Ham. Of these three reported losses, West Ham had the biggest loss at just over £16.4 million. 

Nottingham Forest had the biggest increase in turnover, with a staggering £125 million increase compared to what they made in 2022. 

Out of the so-called ‘big six’ clubs in the league, it was Tottenham who reported the biggest increase in turnover with just over £105.6 million, closely followed by last season’s treble winners Manchester City who had an increase of £99 million.

Each club files its account data in April and it’s always a year behind, so in April this year, we got the data for 2023. So to find out if your club has had an increased turnover this season, April 2025, you will find out.
